INGREDIENTS FOR CHRISTMAS LIGHTS CUPCAKES
I love easy Christmas dessert recipes and these decorated Christmas lights cupcakes definitely qualify as easy to make.
You need 12 vanilla cupcakes to decorate. These can be purchased at the local bakery plain or you can make your own using a cake mix or whatever cupcake recipe you love!
- 12 Vanilla Cupcakes
- 1 can of Vanilla Frosting
- Round Bright Sprinkles (these sprinkles work great)
- Star Sprinkles
- Black Gel Writing Icing
HOW TO MAKE DECORATED CUPCAKES
I love to take any shortcuts I can to save time in the kitchen. It is so quick to stop by the bakery and buy a dozen ready to decorate cupcakes to save time.
If you make your own cupcakes be sure to let them cool before you start decorating!
STEP ONE: FILL CUPCAKES
We will start off by putting a fun surprise inside the cupcakes.
Use a large decorating tip to cut a well in the top of each cupcake.
Fill that hole with the star sprinkles.
Then replace the top of the cupcakes so you have a smooth surface to decorate.
STEP TWO: FROST
We are going to put the vanilla frosting into a decorating bag and add a large star tip to the bag.
Frost the cupcakes with a big swirl design.
STEP THREE: DECORATE
Drizzle a long line of black gel writing icing on the top of each cupcake so it looks like the cord of Christmas lights.
Add several big round bright sprinkles on top of the black gel writing icing for the Christmas lights!

Ingredients
- 12 Vanilla Cupcakes (cooled)
- 1 can of Vanilla Frosting
- Round Bright Sprinkles
- Star Sprinkles
- Black Gel Writing Icing
- Decorating Bag
- Large Decorating Tip
- Large Star Tip
Instructions
1. Use a large decorating tip, cut a well in the top of each cupcake and fill that well with star sprinkles.
2. Replace the top of the cupcakes.
3. With a large star tip in a decorating bag, frost your cupcakes with a big swirl.
4. Drizzle a long line of black gel writing icing in a mess on the top of each cupcake.
5. Add several big round bright sprinkles on top of the black gel writing icing.
