The Charm of Christmas Movie Trivia
Holiday movies, more than any other categorization, are the films we visit annually, often times since early childhood. They are the films we know best and to which we often have the most personal connection.
Sometimes we watch our favorite movies so often that we don’t even realize how much we know about them. As a trivia fanatic, I often find myself knowing an answer without the foggiest clue HOW I knew it.
In addition to being fun and challenging, Christmas movie trivia also gives us a chance to look back on some of our all-time favorites and appreciate them even more. I suppose the more we know about them, the more they feel personal to us.

Classic Christmas Movie Trivia Printable
Our first set of questions is from classic Christmas movies. I spent a needless amount of time trying to decide at what point a film should be considered classic. I even asked readers on my Facebook page Jeff Marshall, Movie Blogger. (Come join me there – we have lots of fun.)
I finally decided that movies prior to 1990 would be considered classic, and those 1990 through the present would be considered modern. We all have our own personal definitions, but this one works for me.
I was a bit surprised to find the sparsity of films from this era that I would consider iconic Christmas movies. There are the obvious one like IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE and MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET, but not as many as I would have expected.
In fact, I found myself adding a couple of movies like GREMLINS and DIE HARD which are questionable choices as “Christmas” movies, even though they take place during the holiday. DIE HARD, in particular, seems to have becomes the poster child of Is-It-A-Christmas-Movie-or-Not motion pictures.

Modern Christmas Movie Trivia Printable
Our next set of movies are the modern titles from 1990 onward. With a few exceptions from the group of classic movies, I think a number of titles here will stand the test of time as iconic holiday films for decades to come. I say that half-heartedly because, quite frankly, I think some of these stink!
That being said, it does feel like the last few years have seemed to produce fewer theatrical holiday motion pictures than the 1990s and early 2000s. It feels like the market on Christmas movies has been monopolized by the Hallmark Channel, which virtually cranks ’em out on an assembly line.
The sad part about that is in the quality of the filmmaking. I haven’t seen that many Hallmark Christmas movies, but the very best I’ve seen can’t come close to comparing to even some of the lesser titles here. I doubt you’ll see a Hallmark Christmas movie printable on many websites out there in InternetIand.

Christmas Movie Trivia Printable for Kids
I decided to go a slightly different route for the kids. Rather than including questions and answers for Christmas movies, I am instead centering the attention on the classic holiday specials, many of which are repeated around 214 times during the holiday season. We’ll think of them as mini-movies for the sake of argument here.
These are a little trickier because so much is dependent on the age of the child, and there is SO many differences a simple year or two can make. I’m sure all of you parents out there can back me up on that one. I have opted to make these questions a bit simpler as the goal here is more to have fun than to trigger the brain cells.
Just a quick suggestion – if your child is unable to answer a question, I would suggest watching the mini-movie together and helping each other find the right answers. It’s a good way to spend some quality time together and make watching TV a more proactive activity.
