WHAT VARIETY OF APPLE WORKS BEST IN SALAD?

Adding apples to your salads can elevate your dish. It brings a different kind of juicy crisp which improves your salad. There is a wide range of apples. You won’t believe how many varieties there are – 7,500 types of apples. But of course, you’re not going to see it in just one place.

You can use any apple but if you want the one that’s crispy, juicy, and doesn’t brown up when sliced, here is a list for you to choose from:

  • Honeycrisp Apple

Compared to the cells in other apples, Honeycrisp has bigger cells which give a unique flavor to them. The taste is a clean and clear sweetness that is nearly frosty. The best time to find Honeycrisp apples is from September through April.

  • Fuji Apple

This is a more familiar one for most people. Fuji apples have a sugary-sweet taste to them which almost tastes like freshly-pressed apple juice. It’s available all year round and can be bought almost anywhere.

  • Piñata® Apple

Based on its name, it has a surprising tropical twist to its taste. Piñata® apples have a crisp and refreshing sweetness of vanilla and pineapple when eaten fresh. Its fine skin and texture make it an excellent selection for salads and also pastry. Stemilt makes packs of Piñata® apples that can be bought from Walmart. It’s available from November through May each year.

  • Jazz Apple

It is harder the most apples but still crispy. The flavor of Jazz apples is slightly sweet and tangy with subtle spicy notes. Like Fuji apples, Jazz apples are always available.

  • Empire Apple

When it comes to taste, you will find the Empire has a wonderful blend of sweet crisp and tart crunchy taste with a bright white flesh inside. Empire apples are best in September and October but will last until January.

WHY IS CRANBERRY APPLE SALAD GOOD AT CHRISTMAS?

This cranberry apple salad can be made and served anytime. However, cranberries became a traditional dish during the holiday season.

Originating in the temperate regions of the northern hemisphere, cranberries mature to an intense red color from September to November. This makes it a natural part of Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations.

Most American households include this as a sauce for Thanksgiving while they are used for Christmas celebrations in Britain and Canada.

This salad has a green and red combination that is perfect for the Christmas vibe!
